Frequently asked questions
Using Slipd
What can I do with my PDFs here?
Merge files, split them, rotate, reorder, delete, extract and insert pages, replace a page with one from another PDF, and download the result. The home page links to each tool.
Do I need an account?
No account needed. No sign-up. Open the tool and add your files.
Is it free?
Free to use, supported by ads. No paywall. No download limits. No watermarks.
Which browsers does it work in?
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on computers and phones: Chrome and Edge 125 or later, the current Firefox or Firefox ESR, and Safari 18 or later, including on iPhone and iPad.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Tap a page to select it, and press and hold a page to drag it. Phones have less memory than computers, so open fewer or smaller files at a time.
Can I use it with the keyboard?
Yes. Selecting, moving, rotating and deleting pages all work from the keyboard. On a computer, choose Shortcuts in the tool to see the keys.
Your files
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your files are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers. Your files never leave your device.
Where are my files while I work?
In your browser's memory, on your device. They are cleared when you close or reload the page, or choose Start over, and they are not kept between visits.
Can I check that nothing is uploaded?
Yes. Open your browser's developer tools and watch the Network panel while you add a file and download the result. The tool itself only loads its own program and data files from this site. Other requests on the page come from the website and its ads.
Where do the ads run?
On the pages around the tool, never inside it. The tool runs on a separate part of this site, and no advertising code runs in the tool itself. The Privacy Policy explains what the ads collect.
What happens if I close the tab by mistake?
Your pages are cleared: the tool keeps them only in the page's memory. While pages are open, your browser asks before you leave the page, so it's harder to lose work by accident.
The new file
What may not carry over to the new file?
Pages are copied into a new PDF, so things that belong to the whole document rather than to a page may not be preserved: bookmarks, interactive form behaviour, digital signatures and document-level settings. Links that point to a page you left out no longer go anywhere.
Is there a watermark?
No. No watermarks.
What is the downloaded file called?
The name of the file whose page comes first, plus -organized for Download or -extracted for Extract. A split downloads as -split.zip, with parts ending -part-01, -part-02 and so on.
Why can't I open a password-protected PDF?
The tool doesn't remove passwords or other protection. Remove the password in your PDF reader, save a copy, and add that copy instead. PDFs whose author has set restrictions that don't allow their pages to be changed can't be opened either.
Should I check the result?
Yes. Check your file before relying on it, and keep your originals.
Ads and costs
Why are there ads?
Free to use, supported by ads. They appear on the pages around the tool, never inside it, and never between the toolbar and your pages.
Does the tool work with an ad blocker?
Yes. The tool itself loads no ads, so blocking them doesn't change it.
