How to rotate PDF pages

  1. Add your PDF. Drop it onto the box above, or use Choose PDF files.
  2. Rotate. To turn every page, choose Rotate left or Rotate right with nothing selected. To turn some pages, select them first. Each page also has its own rotate buttons when you point at it or focus it.
  3. Choose Download to save the rotated PDF.

Rotation that adds up

Each click turns a page 90 degrees. Two clicks turn it upside down, and four bring it back. The thumbnails show the result as you go, so you can see which way up each page is before you download.

Some PDFs already store a rotation for their pages, for example scans that open sideways. Your rotation is added to that, so each page in the grid faces the way it will in the downloaded file.

With the keyboard, press R to rotate the selected pages right, or Shift+R to rotate them left. With nothing selected, R and Shift+R turn every page.

Where your PDF goes

Your files are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers. The rotated file is built in your browser, on your device, and saved to your downloads. No sign-up. Since your PDF never reaches us, there is no account for it to belong to. No watermarks.

Good to know

  • Rotation is saved in the page itself, so the page opens the new way up in other PDF readers too.
  • Bookmarks are not kept in the new file.
  • Password-protected PDFs can't be opened. Remove the password in your PDF reader first.

Questions about rotating PDFs

Can I rotate just one page?

Yes. Point at the page, or focus it with the keyboard, and use its own rotate buttons. Or select it and use the toolbar.

Can I rotate all pages at once?

Yes. Clear the selection, then choose Rotate left or Rotate right. With nothing selected, rotation applies to every page.

How do I turn a page upside down?

Rotate it twice in the same direction.

Does rotating turn my pages into images?

No. Rotation changes a setting in the page that tells PDF readers which way up to show it. The text and pictures on the page are not converted to images.

Can I undo a rotation?

Yes. Choose Undo, or press Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on a Mac), as many times as you need.
